  • Mike Hartley
    Mike Hartley, 60, of Herrin, died at 11:37pm, Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Kindred Hospital in St. Louis, MO after an extended illness with kidney failure.

    Mike was born on December 12, 1956 in Benton, IL to Curtis Ray and Donna Verneal (Allen) Hartley.

    Mike graduated from Herrin High School in 1974 and also graduated from SIU twice. Mike obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management Systems. He also obtained his Master’s Degree in Accounting. He worked for many years as a Service Manager at the family owned Gateway Marina at Crab Orchard Lake. Mike worked for Motorola in Fort Worth, Texas and for Trubilt Metal Buildings and did tax auditing for several large corporations during his accounting career.

    Mike loved duck and goose hunting, fishing, NASCAR and had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a member of the Church of God in Marion, Ducks Unlimited, and the NRA. Mike’s ceremony to heaven is including a display of his duck call collection and his favorite Harley Davidson motorcycle and his Harley Davidson leather jacket will also be on display.

    Mike is survived by his Father, Curtis Hartley of Herrin; Sister, Victoria Hartley of Herrin; 2 Uncles, Albert Hartley of Mt. Vernon and Jon (Carolyn) Hartley of Carbondale; 2 Aunts, Katie Hartley of West Frankfort and Nadine Bozic of West Frankfort; Numerous Cousins, Other Relatives and Devoted Friends.

    He is preceded in death by his Mother, Donna Hartley.

    Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon and will take place until the service begins at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 1:30PM on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Crain Funeral Home Egyptian Chapel in Energy, IL. Entombment will follow in Egyptian Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Eulogy will be conducted by his close cousin, Methodist Pastor, Ted Hartley and Pastor Roy Pepmiller from the Church of God in Marion, IL. Music will be provided by Leslie Fitzpatrick, Richard Sanders and Sons of the Father.

    Memorials may be made to Hartley Art Gallery in Herrin, IL in support of community art programs and will be accepted at the funeral home.
