  • Robert "Bob" Dover
    Robert Howard “Bob” Dover, 81, of Thebes, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at home.

     

    He was born February 17, 1936 in Alexander County, the son of Robert and Ora (Allen) Dover. He married Linda Polk.

    Bob retired as a truck driver before that he did factory work in the Rockford area and was a jack of all trades. He was a talented musician playing the guitar and had his own band for 32 years called Bob Dover and The Blue Boys Band. Bob’s love of music inspired many of his family and friends to be interested in music too.

    Survivors include his wife, Linda Dover of Thebes, son, Jeff Dover of Loves Park, Illinois; daughters, Bonnie Wallin of Loves Park and Barbara Fuhrer of Eldridge, Missouri; step-daughters, Virginia of Byron, Illinois, Bridget of Rockford, Melinda of Elgin and Annette of Rockford; step-sons, Ronald and Neal both of Rockford; 20 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sisters, Beverly McHarry of Thebes and Dorothy Jones of Collins, Mississippi; brothers, Alfred Dover of Tamms, and Floyd Dover of Charleston, Missouri; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lorene Cooper; brothers, Elroy Dover, Jesse Dover and Jim Rhymer.

    Graveside Services were Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at St. John’s Cemetery with Rev. Lacie Betts officiating.
